Mercy High honors graduate

Theresa Franco, a 1974 graduate of Mercy High School in Omaha, is the first recipient of the school’s Distinguished Woman of Mercy Alumna Award.

Given by the school’s Alumnae Association, the award recognizes outstanding achievements and service in the community and support to the school. Franco will receive the award at an all-school reunion June 4.

The vice president of cancer services and radiology at Nebraska Medicine in Omaha, Franco is helping oversee development of the Fred & Pamela Buffett Cancer Center on Nebraska Medicine’s campus. She has served on Mercy High’s Alumnae Council, regularly attends Mercy events and she serves on numerous boards including the Creighton University College of Nursing Alumni Board, the American Cancer Society and Josie Harper Hospice House.

"Theresa is a compassionate leader who exemplifies all that is good about Mercy High School," said Sister of Mercy Delores Hannon, president. "She is a worthy first recipient of the … award and an excellent role model to all alumnae."
