Roncalli Catholic plans Festa del Leone

Roncalli Catholic High School will honor a Jesuit brother’s 60 years of service to youth at its 28th annual Festa del Leone dinner April 1.

The 5:30 p.m. event at the Omaha school will include a social hour, silent and live auctions and a $5,000 drawing. Money raised will go toward tuition assistance.

Jesuit Brother Mike Wilmot, who taught English and theology and coached basketball at Creighton Preparatory School in Omaha, will receive the Pope St. John XXIII Award for his service to Catholic high school students.

Brother Wilmot also founded nonprofit Gesu Housing in Omaha, which builds homes for low-income families, and he continues to help basketball and football teams as a volunteer at Roncalli Catholic.

Tickets are $125 per person, and patron sponsorship packages and underwriting and advertising opportunities are available. Contact Maureen Irish at mirish@roncallicatholic.org or 402-571-7670, ext. 113.
