New Cassel to honor Spirit of St. Francis

Retired Father James Tiegs will be among those honored for their service to the aging at New Cassel Retirement Center’s Spirit of St. Francis dinner Oct. 5 in Omaha.

Father Tiegs will receive the Spirit of St. Francis Award, the retirement center’s highest honor. Martin Bros. will be honored with the Lempka Leadership Award for a spirit of giving to New Cassel’s mission, and the Eastern Nebraska Office on Aging will receive the New Cassel Distinguished Community Service Award for its advocacy work in the Omaha and Council Bluffs area.

The 6 p.m. dinner at the Scott Conference Center costs $100, with tables of eight $1,000.
