New minivan boosts transportation

A 2016 Dodge Minivan recently pulled into the parking lot at Pope John XXIII Central Catholic High School in Elgin, and the keys went to school officials.

Proceeds from the school’s 2017 Evening with Friends Gala "wish item" auction were matched with funds from the Archdiocese of Omaha’s Ignite the Faith capital campaign to help the school’s transportation committee purchase the vehicle.

The van seats seven passengers, and can be used to transport students and teachers to activities, including sports competitions and professional development opportunities.

"We are so grateful to our donors for helping us purchase this van," said Betty Getzfred, principal. "We couldn’t have done it without their generosity."
