School’s fitness goal: physical and spiritual

Laps and prayers … running in pairs and carrying a brick as a reminder of Simon the Cyrenean helping Christ carry the cross …

These are among the activities students at St. Anthony School in Columbus are participating in as part of Saints on the Sprint, an effort combining faith and fitness.

Ten minutes of each school day throughout the school year are devoted to exercise, with the end-goal of confidently walking and running three miles. Each week has a theme, and Holy Week’s focused on Jesus’ suffering, death and resurrection, said Amy Sokol, principal.
