Night of Knights breaks records

A record 660 people helped Mount Michael Benedictine School near Elkhorn raise more than $1 million at the April 7 Night of Knights fundraiser dinner and auction.

David and Peggy Sokol were the guests of honor, and all members of the class of 1999 were honorary chairs, in memory of their late classmate, the Sokol’s son, David, known as DJ, who died of cancer shortly after graduating from Mount Michael.

The evening included a $400,000 gift from an anonymous donor to complete the fundraising for a new science, technology, engineering and mathematics building named after DJ Sokol.
The Sokols also matched all live auction bids up to $125,000 to help renovate locker rooms that will be named after two other Mount Michael students who have died, Nate LaFave and Dylan Johnson.
