Pro-life events to be held in Lincoln, La Vista
January 9, 2025
Nebraskans will have the opportunity to support the dignity of human life at three events on Jan. 31 and Feb. 1.
Nebraska Right to Life will hold its annual Walk for Life in Lincoln on Feb. 1, beginning at 10 a.m. on the north steps of the Nebraska State Capitol, 1445 K St.
A Pro-Life Mass, sponsored by the Nebraska Catholic Conference, precedes the walk and will be celebrated by Bishop Joseph G. Hanefeldt of the Diocese of Grand Island. The Mass is scheduled to begin at 9 a.m. at St. Mary Church, 1420 K St., across from the Capitol.
The Walk for Life will feature a new route this year, ending at the Lincoln Marriott Cornhusker Hotel, 333 S 13th St. There, people can browse at informational booths and hear speaker Elizabeth Gillette’s keynote speech at 11:30 a.m. Gillette is a pro-life author and speaker who experienced a chemical abortion.
The evening before, on Jan. 31, Nebraska Right to Life will hold its Third Annual Walk for Life Gala in La Vista, with actor Jim Caviezel slated as speaker.
Caviezel portrayed Jesus in “The Passion of the Christ” and more recently starred in “Sound of Freedom,” a true story about the rescue of trafficked children.
The fundraiser will be held at the Embassy Suites La Vista Conference Center, 12520 Westport Parkway, and is set to begin at 5:30 p.m.
Tickets for the gala are $75 and can be purchased online or by sending a check made out to Nebraska Right to Life (noting that it is for the gala) to P.O. Box 80410, Lincoln, NE 68501-0410.
Registration deadline is Jan. 17. No tickets will be sold after this date.
