Skutt Catholic administrator is school’s new president

The activities director at V.J. and Angela Skutt Catholic High School in Omaha will soon be the school’s president.

Jeremy Moore takes the position April 1, chosen from a field of three finalists and six applicants. He has worked at Skutt Catholic since 2004, including as a health and physical education teacher and a strength, wrestling, football and track coach.

Moore has been activities director since 2014, and said he is looking forward to the new challenge.

"I’ve been here 13 years, I know the school well," he said.

Priorities include emphasizing the Catholic faith at the school, maintaining its strong finances and "pushing the academic and activities envelope," he said.

The school, which next year will celebrate its founding 25 years ago, is in the midst of a strategic planning process that should wrap up by the end of May, Moore said. "There are a lot of things we want to do," he said.

Patrick Slattery, superintendent of schools and a former president of Skutt Catholic who worked with Moore, was a member of the search committee. Moore has had leadership roles in numerous capital and campus projects and served on a variety of committees that provided him with a view of all operations at the school, Slattery said.

"As president, I had the opportunity to work very closely with Jeremy," Slattery said. "I have a lot of confidence in his ability, his energy and his passion to build on the success Skutt Catholic has been experiencing."
