Student takes second in AKSARBEN contest

Chase Preister was a senior at Pope John XXIII Central Catholic High School in Elgin when he drew a picture of a man on a tractor, with a University of Nebraska "N" on his cap, poultry in the yard and a barn in the background.

That picture won second place in the high school division of the AKSARBEN Agricultural Art Contest in Omaha, selected from nearly 100 submissions.

Now studying at Southeast Community College in Milford, Preister will see his artwork framed, displayed and auctioned away at the AKSARBEN Purple Ribbon Auction Sept. 25 at Century Link Center in Omaha.

Money raised from the auction will support the organization of business leaders as it develops programs and provides needs-based scholarships.
