Archbishop McGovern to preside at Bishops’ Pro-Life Mass in Lincoln

Nebraska’s three bishops invite you to stand in prayer and action for the sanctity of life on Jan. 31 in Lincoln.

Archbishop Michael G. McGovern, Bishop James D. Conley of Lincoln and Bishop Joseph G. Hanefeldt of Grand Island invite Catholics across the state to a 9 a.m. Bishops’ Pro-Life Mass at St. Mary Church, 1420 K St.

Archbishop McGovern will be the celebrant and homilist.

Following the Mass, worshipers can cross the street to the north steps of the Nebraska State Capitol, where the 53rd Annual Nebraska Walk for Life begins at 10 a.m.

After a brief rally, participants will walk to the Cornhusker Marriott Hotel, 333 S 13th St., in support of children yet to be born, those who have died in abortions, women facing unexpected pregnancies and parents and families who have lost children to abortion.

At the hotel, keynote speaker Nick Freitas will address the crowd. Freitas is a husband and father as well as a Virginia legislator, a social media influencer and a former Green Beret.

Nebraska Right to Life sponsors the walk each year. The Nebraska Catholic Conference organizes the Pro-Life Mass.

For those interested in participating this year, metered parking is available around the State Capitol and at several nearby garages.
