Basketball games help cancer fundraiser

It was called "Pink Out for Hope."

And it gave basketball fans at Pope John XXIII Central Catholic High School in Elgin a chance to buy $1 raffle tickets to help in the battle against cancer and win one of six gift baskets with items for a movie night out, hot chocolate, baking, grilling, an ice cream party or camping.

Organized by National Honor Society students at the high school, the Jan. 20 event at boys and girls, junior varsity and varsity basketball games against Ewing raised $435 to benefit cancer recovery efforts at Faith Regional Health Services in Norfolk.
