Polish society awards scholarships

Four eighth-graders of Polish descent in the archdiocese each won a $1,000 scholarship to a Catholic high school for their essays about a Polish Catholic ancestor.
 
The Polish Heritage Society of Nebraska awarded the annual St. John Paul II scholarships May 6 during a ceremony at the Polish Home Omaha. 
 
This year’s scholarship winners, their elementary school and the high school they plan to attend: Paul Szalewski, St. Columbkille in Papillion, to Creighton Preparatory School, Omaha; James Pajnigar, St. Bernadette, to Daniel J. Gross Catholic High School, both Bellevue; Paige Fiscus, Ss. Peter and Paul, Omaha, to Gross Catholic; Madison Adam, St. Stephen the Martyr, to Marian High School, both Omaha.
