Special prom at senior center

More than 50 seniors were escorted by Roncalli Catholic High School students through a red carpet entrance, danced, and enjoyed food and company at a special prom at the Immanuel Courtyard independent and assisted living center in Omaha.

Organized by Ann Marie Goettl, the center’s lifestyle supervisor, the April 24 event took place with help from 10 members of the high school’s pro-life group, led by Father Matthew Niggemeyer, the school chaplain.

Goettl, a member of St. Cecilia Parish in Omaha, said the center’s executive director provided the idea, and she coordinated it. She helped residents find beautiful items to wear and decorations included a golden backdrop for photos.

“For me, it was to give the residents a great memory, something they could share together,” Goettl said. “There was beauty and music and young people.”
